Save the nature for the sake of your existence!- By Upal : Open pop-up on buttom left for audio blog. We are going through a tough time. The whole world seems to be in a stand still due the Coronavir...
Nowadays diabetes has become a common disease. International Diabetes Foundation latest 2019 report says 463 million adults around the world are living with diabetes. CDC 2020 report says 34.5 million Americans have diabetes. Even diabetes cases among youth have increased as much as 1000% in the past decade. In 2000, the average prevalence of diabetes(per 1000 person) in the world was 2.8%.
Both the youth and old are at risk of diabetes. Even in my country, Bangladesh researchers found a change in our gene sequence is making our next generation more vulnerable to the disease.
In medical term, diabesity is diabetes due to overweight or obesity. It is usually seen in later age and often prefered as Type 2 diabetes.
Today I have come with the science behind diabetes.
Diabetes refers to an excess of sugar level in blood. Our blood continuously maintains blood glucose level as a part of Metabolic Homeostasis (Perfect environment for metabolism). All the sugar (mostly carbohydrates) we take to turn into one simple sugar, glucose C6H12O6. Non-diabetic blood sugar level or normal blood sugar level is between 3.9 and 7.1 mmol of glucose per 1L (70-130 mg glucose/ dL). Global mean glucose level for a human is 5.5 mmol/L. Insulin hormone helps blood to maintain the sugar level.
Diabetes is the resistance of insulin in the human body. The insulin hormone, produced by Bita cell of our Pancreas breaks down the sugar in our body and thus produce energy. When our blood becomes resistant to insulin, we get no more energy from sugar as it is not broken down. But our Pancreas continues its job leading to excretion of insulin more and more. The insulin stays in the blood as it can't do its job, our health deteriorates further.
On the contrary, our Kidney starts dissolving fluid from our tissues. When we don't get energy from sugar, the body starts burning body fats leading to weight loss. One can lose 10-20 pounds of weight in 2 or 3 months due to diabetes. Even the shifting of fluids in our eyes makes our sight obscure and foggy.
Due to unbearable shortness of energy, people suffer chronic fatigue. Our tissues become arider which is obviously not a good sign. Due to this, our mussels become more exposed to threats. Even slightest tickles may cause bleeding.
We become more hungry and thirsty. We keep taking food but the sugar doesn't dissolve. This increases the level of sugar in our body. On the other hand, our kidney can purify no more blood. We urinate more.
People in general piss 6-10 times a day. People with diabetes prone to pee 12-15 times or more.
These are all sign of pre-diabetes or Type 1 diabetes. It is better if this disease is diagnosed in this phase. There is a time when our Pancreas is no more able to produce insulin. Things get complicated then. This is known as Type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes is more often hired. If anyone has a family history of the disease, he is more likely to have the same. Deformation of Islets Of Langerhans, bulky figure, reckless lifestyle, fondness of sugar and chocolate and others also contribute to diabetes. It is called the silent killer because the early symptoms are hard to understand. It is one of the measure causes of stroke, heart attack, blindness, kidney failure and more moderate to fatal diseases. Even people with diabetes can't understand the early signs of a stroke. It causes death mostly in old people. However, there is an ongoing prone of youths to the disease which is quite uncommon still now. So scientists find it difficult to estimate the complications for youth.
Subtle changes in our lifestyle can save us from this deadly disease. Maintaining food habits like taking a small number of spices, avoiding sugar (often told white poison), taking yearly health checkups etc can hult this.
However, it can even be cured if we take precautions. We should consciously deal with the disease from an early age.

You are may having diabetes or not, none can be marked safe. It's very difficult to detect diabetes in an early state. And once it is detected, one can surely recover with some compulsions.
